Speed bumps in your current training program?

About 25 years ago I had a Norwegian Elkhound named Jack. At our first training class we were all instructed in how to give a choke-chain correction.. Jack hit the ground like a sack of potatoes and simply wouldn't move. That was his last session. Many dogs are not suited to traditional methods. That doesn't mean the method is bad - millions of dogs are successfully trained that way. It means that your particular dog needs a different approach.

Click & Treat Training is not generic clicker training -- it is designed to work for a broad spectrum of dogs, regardless of temperament. If you have a shy or soft dog, this perspective  is as appropriate as for tough-as-nails Labradors and Rottweilers. That's because assuming that any one motivation will help every dog is entirely unrealistic. Dogs come in so many different basic personality types that  the only system that will adapt to them all is one that teaches you, the trainer, how to use a broad spectrum of consequences that fit your particular dog. For those of you who have tired of the force-only systems or  the cookie-only systems that don't seem to give you either the enthusiasm or control that you need, this method is for you.
